Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium marine additive enables the addition of biologically ideal calcium to the reef aquarium: All calcareous animals, especially corals need calcium and carbonates to grow and flourish. However the growth rate of corals depends mostly on the zooxanthellae (algae) that live symbiotically within them.
These algae present the coral with precious carbohydrates of their own metabolism. As they photosynthesize, they use carbon dioxide from the water, which enables the coral to precipitate calcium carbonate in its skeleton. Only when calcium and carbon dioxide are available together can this symbiotic relationship work.
Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium is the ideal source of both calcium carbonate for the corals and carbon dioxide for the zooxanthellae. Many calcium supplements add undesirable by-products to the water, or like Kalkwasser, influence pH. When Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium is dissolved in the aquarium, all 70 trace elements are added and no unnatural by-products are formed.
Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium will not alter the pH level if used in accordance with the instructions. Natural sea water contains on average 400-410 ppm of calcium and is typically saturated at this level. It is important not to exceed 450 ppm, as super saturation can result in the calcium surplus precipitating out of the solution, taking desirable trace elements with it.

We offer free standard delivery on Tropic Marin Bio Calcium 511g to the UK Mainland for most orders that are over £50* (see exclusions below). Items that are considered larger than average will incur a delivery charge. Similarly, orders under £50 and are considered smaller items, will incur a delivery charge of £3.49 or £4.95 to UK Mainland.
*Larger items that are over 1 metre in length are subject to additional charges for certain areas – you will be notified if this is the case when you add the items to your basket. When you proceed to check out, then implement your delivery address and details, there will be a message explaining whether your postcode incurs extra costs before any money is taken. In the unfortunate event of unwanted items, you have 14 days to return with a receipt. The Tropic Marin Bio Calcium 511g must be intact, and in complete resalable condition. A refund will not be issued until our checks determine that it is still brand new and unused. The cost of returning the {Product name} falls on the customer, unless there has been an issue on our end.
In the unlikely event of faulty items, you have 30 days to return the Tropic Marin Bio Calcium 511g and even longer for items with manufacturer’s guarantee. Proof of purchase must be received in order to obtain a refund or exchange. However, this excludes damages caused by accidents, neglect or misuse of the Tropic Marin Bio Calcium 511g. Tests will be conducted to see if the item is faulty; if not there will be a £18 charge for the redelivery of the item and to cover testing costs for a non-faulty item.
