In certain conditions, large quantities of microscopic algae grow in the water. They create the green water that spoils the appearance of a pond by making it impossible to see plants and fish.
It’s important not to confuse ‘green water’ with the long strands of blanket weed that are also very common. Green water algae are so tiny that ordinary filters cannot trap them.
As the pond water passes the UV lamp, the light makes the algae clump together so they are caught in the filter foam or sink to the bottom of the pond. You should see an improvement in days and achieve complete clarity in 6 to 8 weeks.
If you are already using a combined filter /UV system, but the UV part of the filter has ceased to work, a separate UVC such as the Hozelock Vorton can be connected into the hose run between the pump and filter.
All types of filters have a maximum flow, it is important that the pump you intend to use does not exceed the recommended flow specified on each model, as this will push the pond water too quickly through the unit which will affect the performance, as the water will not have enough contact time with Ultra Violet for it to clump the algae cells together.
All models include the lamp, and it is recommended that these are changed every six months to maintain optimum performance

We offer free standard delivery on Hozelock Vorton UVC to the UK Mainland for most orders that are over £50* (see exclusions below). Items that are considered larger than average will incur a delivery charge. Similarly, orders under £50 and are considered smaller items, will incur a delivery charge of £3.49 or £4.95 to UK Mainland.
*Larger items that are over 1 metre in length are subject to additional charges for certain areas – you will be notified if this is the case when you add the items to your basket. When you proceed to check out, then implement your delivery address and details, there will be a message explaining whether your postcode incurs extra costs before any money is taken. You can, however, email us if you have an issue with your Hozelock Vorton UVC order.

In the unfortunate event of unwanted items, you have 14 days to return with a receipt. The Hozelock Vorton UVC must be intact, and in complete resalable condition. A refund will not be issued until our checks determine that it is still brand new and unused. The cost of returning the {Product name} falls on the customer, unless there has been an issue on our end.
In the unlikely event of faulty items, you have 30 days to return the Hozelock Vorton UVC and even longer for items with manufacturer’s guarantee. Proof of purchase must be received in order to obtain a refund or exchange. However, this excludes damages caused by accidents, neglect or misuse of the Hozelock Vorton UVC. Tests will be conducted to see if the item is faulty; if not there will be a £18 charge for the redelivery of the item and to cover testing costs for a non-faulty item. Smaller items are subject to a normal delivery charge, plus an admin fee if found not to be faulty.
