These air operated Skimmers, and the model required is dependent upon the depth of water in the aquarium. The longer the skimmer's contact tube, the more efficient the unit. The water enters the skimmer through the inflow holes into the reaction tube, and is led from the top to the bottom. A wooden air stone diffuses the air into very small air bubbles. While the air bubbles rise through the water they remove protein.
The waste foam is produced above the water level and then rises through the foam tube into the collection cup. In this way, waste particles and toxic compounds are totally removed from the aquarium.
